| Description: Everyone should have Anti-Virus installed. Everyone knows you need an Anti-Virus solution on your computer. Some people use freeware solutions, while others opt for commercial software to keep the viruses, trojans, and other malware off of their systems.
How do you know your AV solution is working? You see the cute icon in the system tray, proudly showing your AV software is loaded. You run scheduled scans of your hard drives on a regular basis. Everything seems to be fine.
But what about realtime scanning? How do you know your AV software is watching over files as they appear on your hard drive? You could purposefully infect your computer, but that's too dangerous and definitely unwise.
UnityPro AV Tester to the rescue! This freeware program allows you to SAFELY test your realtime Anti-Virus protection with a simple click of the button. Using the EICAR test pattern, AV Tester decrypts the test pattern in memory and attempts to write a file to the same folder where AV Tester is installed. If your Anti-Virus solution is watching, it will almost immediately go off, proving it is functioning properly.
