Tech-Pro GreenSaver could solve all these problems. It's a free screensaver that shuts down, suspends or hibernates your Windows PC after a period of time. While it runs, it displays how long to go before the computer shuts down, so you always know what your PC is about to do. If you're at your desk you can disable an imminent shutdown with a nudge of the mouse, so there is no excuse to disable power management because it is too much of a nuisance.
Tech-Pro GreenSaver allows you to have a choice of shutdown options depending on the time of day. For example, when the screensaver runs during the day, it can suspend or hibernate the computer leaving it ready for a speedy start-up when you return. After a specified time, such as the office closing time, you can have the screensaver shut down the computer instead. So there is no need for computers to be left switched on, running an ordinary screensaver, wasting power all night.
